We are very grateful to have such fun, professional, dedicated teachers on staff!
Each teacher has completed Music Together’s rigorous professional teacher training and apprenticeship program.
Jelena Karanovic
Jelena Karanovic is Tam Tam’s director. She is a formally trained pianist, clarinetist, and singer. She also plays guitar, dances, and is passionate about music and children. After attending Music Together classes with her daughter Juniper for three years, Jelena excitedly took the plunge and became a Music Together teacher herself! In March 2019, the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ awarded Jelena Music Together Certification Level I status for outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy, and parent education. Through her energetic and fun classes, Jelena engages with each child while supporting their musical development. She also has a PhD and years of experience in teaching all ages, and is thrilled to support a live music-making community in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy!
Jemilla Mulvihill
Jemilla Mulvihill became a registered Music Together teacher in 2011. She has performed as a singer and composer in NYC and San Francisco in small jazz ensembles. After graduating from LaGuardia High School of Music and Art as a vocal major, she received a BFA in jazz vocal performance from the New School in NYC. She presently teaches choir, cello and piano to beginner students, and sings on a regular basis with her son, Cullen. Jemilla is an expert yoga practitioner and teacher and will occasionally slip a yoga pose into her choreography.
Jimmy Zenger
Although Jimmy’s mother and grandmother didn’t consider themselves musicians, they never let that stop them from making music an everyday part of his life as a child. Now, through caring for his own son, Jimmy has seen as a parent the effect a musical home has on a child and dreams of a world where all caregivers feel confident in making a child’s life musical. Jimmy’s musical journey started with performing “concerts” in the family living room as a small child to playing in school bands and eventually studying music in college. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Ball State University, a master’s in Music Education from Teachers College at Columbia University, a certification in Off Schulwerk from DePaul University and has been teaching general music in NYC Public Schools since 2013. He is excited to meet you as we have fun making music together!
Jinah Park
Jinah Park is a South Korean-born pianist, organist, teacher, conductor, and mom. After graduating from college with a degree in Piano Performance, Jinah moved to NYC where she earned a Master of Music degree from CUNY. She has lived and worked in NYC as a teacher, choir director, and performer ever since. In 2009, Jinah and her violinist husband co-founded The Brooklyn Music Studio, a distinguished Suzuki-based music school that provides comprehensive instruction in piano, violin, viola, and cello for both children and adults. When she had her own daughter, Jinah discovered Music Together. The joy and connection she experienced as a mom in those classes led her to become a Music Together teacher herself. Jinah has been teaching Music Together at different centers in Brooklyn and her warmth and spark have quickly made her a favorite! Learn more about Jinah at www.brooklynmusicstudio.com
