Join Tam Tam’s outdoor Music Together classes for a fun-filled 45-minute experience each week in the parks of Fort Greene and Bed-Stuy! Our classes are designed for 4-12 families and feature singing, dancing, instrument shaking, and lots of smiles.

We had outdoor classes with teachers Jelena and Jemilla. The classes are very fun and educational, and it’s clear that Jelena and Jemilla are very experienced and passionate about immersing young children in music. They have also always been so kind and understanding. Our child loves the songs and interactive elements of the class.
I absolutely love Tam Tam's Music Together classes! Jelena, Jemilla, and Jimmy are all wonderful teachers, and wonderful musicians. I've been coming to class with my 2-year old for about half a year now, and it's been such a joy to watch her pick up the songs and sing them around the house. The classes themselves are super well structured/organized, and led with a light touch. If my daughter wants to dance by herself in the corner for a while, that's fine. A kid doesn't want to return the maracas right away? It's no problem. As a parent, it's lovely and relaxing to spend a morning in the park (we do the outdoor sessions) making music and spending quality time with my daughter, and I love the idea that it's also building a nice musical foundation for her. The selections each semester have great variety - more interesting melodically and rhythmically than your traditional kids' fare, so grownups can learn something too!
If we could give higher than a 5, we would!!! Both of our children started at TamTam at 2 months and from moment one, they have been able to foster a love for music and movement and rhythm. We listen to the music in the car! And I often catch my daughter singing the songs as she plays. We are only sad that we moved and Jemilla and Jalena couldn’t move with us. There is no similar charismatic team to teach our kids now! You would be lucky to take their classes.
This music education program is fantastic, and Jemilla's classes are excellent. I tried many programs and we have come back to this class with Jemilla for years (and encouraging successfully my kids friends' families to join!) - with my son from about 9 months old to 5 years old, and my daughter started when she was born and is now almost 3! The songs are wonderful and we all find ourselves singing them as we play or go about our day. I highly recommend Jemilla's classes, they are bright, engaging, fun, educational, warm, and welcoming. Enjoy and bring your child's friends, it becomes a wonderful ritual and bonding experience for everyone.

After signing up, check your inbox (or spam folder) for a confirmation email from Tam Tam. This email will include a Google class location pin and the teacher’s phone number—just in case you need help finding us. Don’t forget to share this info with your caregiver!
In Case of Bad Weather ☔❄️🌬️
We keep an eye on the weather, and if it’s raining, the ground is frozen, the wind is over 20 MPH, or the temperature drops below 35°F, the class will not meet. Families are invited to schedule a makeup in another outdoor or indoor class. Just make sure to complete all makeups before the end of the semester. Note that we can’t offer refunds or credits for missed classes. Feel free to reach out to Tam Tam’s director if you have any questions or concerns.
Keeping Everyone Healthy 🤧
Please stay home if you or your child are feeling unwell (with symptoms like fever, cough, stomachache, etc.). We offer unlimited makeups in classes that are not full. If you or anyone in your family tests positive for COVID-19 after attending our class, please let us know right away by text or email.
Instruments and Facilities 🥁🧺
Bring a blanket and a few percussion instruments/props like shakers, scarves, wooden spoons, tambourines, or drums if your child enjoys them.
There are no bathrooms available for outdoor music classes. Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will be provided by the teacher for your convenience.
Keeping the Musical Immersion Going for Your Child 🎤
Please turn off your cell phone during class to help create a focused, musical environment. Sing, dance, and show your child how much fun music can be!
No pets, please: babies may pull or pinch on a dog that comes close to them.

Outdoor classes are in a public space and can involve weather changes, ground conditions, bugs, noise, dust, and other surprises. If this sounds like a bit much, please explore our indoor class options instead. Musical immersion works much better indoors and we want to make sure you and your child have the best experience possible!
