Music is for everyone, and making music together is one of the best ways to bring people together.
This fall, Tam Tam is joining Kids Music Day, an international celebration organized by Keep Music Alive to highlight the importance of music in children’s lives. Kids Music Day 2026 takes place on October 2, with participating music organizations offering special events and opportunities around the celebration.
To celebrate, Tam Tam is offering free demo classes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their grownups from September 25 through October 1.
Come sing with us!
Music isn’t something children simply listen to. It’s something we make together.
At Tam Tam, we believe music is every child’s birthright.
That means music doesn’t belong only to children who seem naturally “musical.” It doesn’t belong only on a stage, in a concert hall, or in the hands of professional musicians.
Music belongs in the living room.
In the classroom.
On the playground.
And in a room full of children and grownups who are willing to sing, move, listen, experiment, laugh, and make a little joyful noise together.
That’s what our classes are all about.
What happens in a Tam Tam class?
Our research-based Music Together® classes bring babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their grownups together for live, hands-on music-making.
We sing and chant. We dance and move. We play drums, shakers, bells, and other instruments. We explore rhythm, melody, language, and musical patterns.
And we do it together.
A baby might watch and listen from a grownup’s lap. A toddler might dance around the room. A preschooler might sing every word and enthusiastically take the lead.
There is no expectation that children sit still, perform, or get everything “right.”
Participation is the point.
Grownups are part of the music, too
One of the things that makes Tam Tam different is that grownups aren’t spectators.
You don’t have to be a musician. You don’t have to sing in tune. You don’t need to know what you’re doing.
Your child doesn’t need you to be a perfect singer.
They need you to join in.
When children see the grownups they love singing, moving, playing, listening, and having fun, they learn that music is something they can do, too. Your presence gives your child permission to experiment and discover their own musical voice.
And something wonderful happens for grownups along the way: you get to play, laugh, move, and make something together with your child.
Music builds more than musical skills
Music-making supports children’s musical development, of course—but that’s only part of the story.
When children make music with other people, they are also practicing listening, taking turns, paying attention, coordinating their bodies, expressing themselves, responding to others, and being part of a group.
They are learning that their voice matters—and that other people’s voices matter, too.
And when families return week after week, something else develops: community.
You see the same families. You watch babies become toddlers and toddlers become preschoolers. You learn your neighbors’ names. You share songs, laughter, and memories.
Music gives us a reason to gather.
A little bit of Spanish, too
Tam Tam also takes a casually bilingual English-Spanish approach to music-making.
We play with Spanish sounds and songs alongside English, giving children an opportunity to hear unfamiliar sound patterns in a joyful, low-pressure setting.
Playing with new sounds supports children’s listening skills, phonetic awareness, and flexible thinking. It also gives grownups a chance to discover and play with those sounds alongside their children.
You don’t need to speak Spanish to participate. Curiosity is enough.
Take the music home
We want the music to continue long after class is over.
Tam Tam families receive song recordings and materials to use at home, including a beautifully illustrated songbook. Families also receive bilingual English-Spanish music recordings and a lyrics booklet.
A song from class might become part of your morning routine. Your toddler might request it in the grocery store. A favorite song might become a family memory that lasts for years.
The goal isn’t to practice for next week’s class.
It’s to make music part of everyday life.

Bring your baby, toddler, preschooler, or siblings. Come exactly as you are. You don’t need any musical experience, and your child doesn’t need to know how to participate.
